What we collect
To read the board, nothing: no account, no tracking. When you post: your name, your email, a phone number if you add one, and what you post (words, dates, places, photos). When you sign up for the Thursday email: your email and your region. When you use Report or message a poster: what you write and your email.
What shows in public
Your post, and your first name and last initial. Your email or phone only if you choose to show them. Otherwise people reach you through a message form and never see your address.
Who helps us run it
Supabase stores the board. Vercel serves the site. Resend sends our emails. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that posters are people. When you snap a flyer, say it or paste a link, Google’s Gemini reads it to fill in the form. We don’t keep your recording, and the page you paste is read once and not stored. We never sell or rent your information, and there are no ads or ad trackers here.
How long we keep it
Posts never confirmed by email are deleted after 24 hours, with their photos. Photos added but never posted are deleted after 24 hours. Unconfirmed email sign-ups are deleted after 7 days. Ended posts leave the board; ask us and we delete them for good. To slow down spam and trace abuse, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address (never the address itself) with posts, messages, reports and sign-ups.
Cookies
One short-lived cookie while you post (it proves you passed the bot check), and one for moderators who sign in. A draft of your post is kept on your own phone until you send it. Nothing follows you to other sites.
Your choices
Every email has a one-tap unsubscribe. Every post email has a link to change or take down your post. To see, fix or delete what we hold about you, email hello@humboldt.community. We answer within a few days.
Do Not Track
We don’t track you across sites, so a Do Not Track signal has nothing to switch off.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we say so here with a new date, and in the Thursday email.
